The nine tools your assistant gets

The WordPush MCP server exposes nine tools. Two only read — your brand context and the status of something rendering. The other seven write: they save drafts, generate posts, images and carousels, and schedule or publish to LinkedIn through the official API. Three of them spend AI credits from the 2,000 a month in your plan; the rest cost nothing.

Server address

https://app.wordpush.co.uk/mcp/wordpush

A remote MCP server over HTTP, authorised with OAuth. It supports dynamic client registration, so there is no client ID or secret to configure.

How to set this up if you are cautious

Always allow

The 2 read-only tools. They cannot change anything, cost nothing, and blocking them just makes the assistant guess at your brand instead of asking.

  • get_context
  • generation_status

Ask first

Everything that writes. In practice you will wave most of these through, but the prompt is what stops an over-eager assistant spending 80 credits on an image you did not ask for — or publishing.

  • create_post
  • write_post
  • attach_image
  • generate_image
  • generate_carousel
  • schedule_post
  • publish_post_now

If you only harden one thing, harden publish_post_now. It is the single tool whose effect is instantly public and cannot be taken back from inside WordPush.

Tool by tool

What each one is for

get_context

Read only Free

“What does WordPush know about my brand?”

The sensible first call in any conversation, and the one that stops your assistant guessing. It returns the voice built from your onboarding interview, which LinkedIn channels you can publish to, the post angles available to you, and how many AI credits you have left this month.

create_post

Writes Free

“Save that as a draft in WordPush.”

For when the assistant wrote the post itself and you just want it kept. Nothing is generated, so nothing is charged. The draft lands in your WordPush account exactly as if you had typed it there.

write_post

Writes 10 AI credits

“Have WordPush write this one in my voice.”

The difference between this and letting the assistant write is whose voice you get. This one goes through WordPush’s own generation, using the voice model built from your interview, so it sounds like your other posts rather than like a chat assistant being helpful.

attach_image

Writes Free

“Use this image on the post.”

Takes an image you have uploaded or a public image URL. It cannot take raw image data from the conversation, so if your assistant drew something you like, save it and attach it.

generate_image

Writes 80 AI credits

“Make an image for this post.”

Renders an on-brand image in your own fonts and colours. The most expensive call in the set at 80 credits, so it is worth asking for deliberately rather than leaving an assistant free to reach for it.

generation_status

Read only Free

“Is that carousel ready yet?”

Images and carousels render asynchronously, so an assistant that tried to publish immediately would be publishing an empty slot. This is how it waits properly.

schedule_post

Writes Free

“Schedule it for Tuesday at 9am.”

Queues the post in your WordPush calendar for a date and time you give, to your profile or a company page. It appears in the calendar like anything else you scheduled, and you can move or cancel it in the app.

publish_post_now

Writes Free

“Publish it now.”

Goes straight out through LinkedIn’s official API. This is the one to keep on “ask first”: it is the only tool in the set whose effect is immediately public and cannot be undone from WordPush.

Frequently asked questions

How many tools does the WordPush MCP server expose?
Nine: get_context, create_post, write_post, attach_image, generate_image, generate_carousel, generation_status, schedule_post, publish_post_now. Together they cover the whole loop, from reading your brand context to publishing a finished post with an image on it.
Which tools cost AI credits?
Three. write_post is 10 credits, generate_image is 80, and generate_carousel uses credits depending on what it builds. Everything else — reading your context, saving a draft the assistant wrote, attaching an image you already have, checking render status, scheduling and publishing — is free. Credits come from the 2,000 a month included in the plan.
Which tools can change something?
Seven of the nine write. Only get_context and generation_status are read-only. If you want to be careful, those two are the ones to leave on always-allow, and publish_post_now is the one to always approve by hand.
Can the assistant see my LinkedIn login?
No, and it could not use it if it did. Your LinkedIn connection is held by WordPush over OAuth, and the assistant never touches it. The assistant authenticates to WordPush, asks WordPush to do something, and receives the result of that one call.
What does the assistant get back?
Only the result of the tool it called — the draft, the render status, the scheduled time. It does not receive your post history, your analytics, your Idea Hub or anyone else’s data.
Can I stop it using a particular tool?
Yes. Permissions are per tool in every client worth using, so you can allow drafting and block publishing, or require approval on anything that writes. You can also revoke the whole connection in WordPush under Settings → AI assistants.
