Post to LinkedIn from Cursor

Add WordPush to Cursor’s mcp.json and draft, illustrate and schedule LinkedIn posts from the editor you are already building in.

Free for 7 days, no card. The connector is included in the plan.

The address you will paste

https://app.wordpush.co.uk/mcp/wordpush

Authorised with OAuth using your normal WordPush sign-in. No API key, nothing to host, and you can revoke it in Settings whenever you like.

Worth knowing: Cursor is the same build-then-post rhythm as Claude Code, for people whose day happens in Cursor rather than a terminal.

Setup

Connecting WordPush to Cursor

  1. Open Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP and choose New MCP Server, which opens mcp.json. You can also create the file by hand.
  2. Add the WordPush entry shown below. Use ~/.cursor/mcp.json to have it everywhere, or .cursor/mcp.json inside a project to keep it to that repo.
  3. Save. Cursor opens your browser to complete the OAuth sign-in automatically.
  4. Ask for a post in the chat panel once it shows as connected.
~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "wordpush": {
      "url": "https://app.wordpush.co.uk/mcp/wordpush"
    }
  }
}
  • No credentials go in this file. WordPush supports dynamic client registration, so Cursor handles the OAuth handshake itself — there is no client ID or secret to add.
  • That also means this file is safe to commit if you scope it to a project.

Steps last checked against Anysphere’s own documentation on 28 September 2026. Cursor changes these menus from time to time — if yours look different, the Cursor’s MCP documentation is the authority.

What it can do

The nine tools Cursor gets

The tools the WordPush MCP server exposes to Cursor, what each does, and what it costs
Tool What it does Cost
get_context Returns your brand voice, your available LinkedIn channels, the post angles you can use and your remaining AI credits. Free
create_post Saves a post your assistant wrote itself into your WordPush account as a draft. Free
write_post Has WordPush generate the draft in your trained voice, rather than the assistant writing it. 10 AI credits
attach_image Attaches an image you uploaded or a public image URL to a post. Free
generate_image Renders an on-brand image for the post in your fonts and colours. 80 AI credits
generate_carousel Turns a post into a native LinkedIn document carousel. Uses AI credits
generation_status Checks on an image or carousel that is still rendering. Free
schedule_post Schedules the post to your profile or company page for a date and time you give. Free
publish_post_now Publishes immediately through LinkedIn’s official API. Free

The five that write, schedule or publish are the ones worth setting to “ask first”. Full detail on each is in the tool reference.

Frequently asked questions

Can Cursor post to LinkedIn?
Not on its own — Cursor has no LinkedIn access built in. It can once you connect a tool that does. WordPush runs an MCP server at https://app.wordpush.co.uk/mcp/wordpush; add it as described on this page and Cursor can draft a post in your voice, build a carousel or image for it, and schedule or publish it to your profile or company page through LinkedIn's official API.
Do I need a developer to connect WordPush to Cursor?
No. You paste one address and sign in with the WordPush account you already have. There is no API key to generate, no code to write and nothing to host — WordPush runs the server.
Which Cursor plans support this?
Any Cursor plan that supports MCP servers.
Does my assistant get access to my LinkedIn account?
No. Your LinkedIn connection lives in WordPush and never leaves it. The assistant talks to WordPush, WordPush talks to LinkedIn. It never sees a LinkedIn credential, and it only receives the specific tool results WordPush returns rather than your wider account data.
Can it publish something without me?
No. Publishing and scheduling are explicit tools the assistant has to call, and you can set each tool to ask first. Leave the read-only tools on always-allow and require approval for anything that writes, and nothing reaches LinkedIn that you did not see.
Does this cost extra on top of WordPush?
No. AI assistant access is part of the one WordPush plan, and it draws on the 2,000 AI credits a month that plan already includes. Saving a draft Cursor wrote itself is free; having WordPush generate a draft or render an image spends credits exactly as it would inside the app.
